Q&A About Coaching
What Is Coaching?
Coaching is a relatively new profession. It is a synthesis of other professional disciplines and practices, including psychology, philosophy, consulting and mentoring. Mix in some success training, some human evolution recognition, and perhaps some spiritual awakening and there you have it.  The objective of coaching is to provide a client with structure and guidance to more effectively and consistently move toward their professional and life goals.

Why Does Coaching Work?
Coaching works because it offers three unique features:
Synergy:
Client and coach become a dynamic team, focusing on the client's goals and needs and accomplishing more than the client would alone.
Structure:
With proven methods and techniqes employed, a client is more proactive and takes action, thinking bigger and getting the job done with accountability built into the process.
Expertise:
A professional coach has the training, tools, and acquired experience to help the client make better decisions, set goals, and restructure their professional and personal lives for maximum productivity and desired change.

Who Works With A Coach?

Professionals, business owners, entrepreneurs, and people in transition use a coach to fix, solve, create or plan something, personally and /or professionally.

What Is Worked On?
Here is what the client and coach may work on together:

Planning, budgeting and goal-setting
Integrating business and personal life for balance
Handling business or personal problems
Making key decisions and designing strategies
Prioritizing actions and projects
Catching up and getting ahead of the game
Developing and managing staff
Increasing revenues or filling a professional practice
Turning around a difficult situation

How Does A Coach Do This?
Coaching services are typically delivered during regular weekly sessions by telephone and/or in person. Clients bring their agenda and the coach helps meet challenges and make the most of opportunities. When a large goal is undertaken, the coach helps design the project and provides the support and structure needed to make sure it gets done. A coach brings out the client's best by helping them strategize, offering advice, holding them accountable, then helping to celebrate the wins.

What Should I Look For In A Coach?

You should be able to answer 3 questions about the coach you select:
1) Does the coach have a track record of helping people like me accomplish the goals I want?
2) Do I feel comfortabale and motivated to take action with this coach?
3) Will this coach keep up with me - and ahead of me - as I grow?

You should of course also check references and try out the coach for a month to see if he or she is really the right one for you.

How Much Does It Cost?
Fees for most coaches range from $250 to $750 per month for weekly sessions. There are usually no other charges and clients may call in between sessions for additional assistance, if needed.
Hourly rates would typically range from $75 to $150 per hour.

How Do I Get Started?
Find a coach through word of mouth, or through a coaching referral service such as coachvillereferral.com.
Most coaches offer an initial free consultation. Call the coach to take advantage of this offer. You will find that coaching is not something that is sold. It is something that you buy because you are comfortable with it, and with the coach you select.
